Education and Youth Programs
Read & Rise Summer Reading Camp
In partnership with the Madison County Literacy Coalition, Read & Rise gives school-age kids 7-15 a daily dose of remediation and enrichment activities.
Starts Monday, June 8. The registration fee is $25. Contact UL Program Director Jeffery Cottrell at (765) 649-7126 to register or for more information.
About the Program
Campers meet daily Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Urban League.
- Group Meeting Time (11 to 11:30 a.m.)
We first provide the children the opportunity to interact with one another.
- Lunch Time (11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
Then, we set aside time for lunch and additional group interaction.
- Project Time (1:05 to 3 p.m.)
Next, the children enter workshop areas where they collaborate on various short-term projects.
- Group Meeting Time (3:05 to 3:25 p.m.)
At the end of each day, we provide time for the children to reflect on the day's events.
